Dana White Says Jose Aldo Will Get a Lightweight Title Shot by Beating Anthony Pettis
Posted by Jeremy Thomas on 02.25.2013

Dana White has revealed that Jose Aldo will get a shot at the UFC lightweight title with a win over Anthony Pettis in August. White told MMAjunkie that if Aldo beats Pettis, he will move up to lightweight for a shot at that division's title belt.

As previously reported, Aldo initially asked for a different matchup as he said Pettis hadn't earned the shot. Obviously, that has changed. The Aldo vs. Pettis fight will headline the promotion's August 3rd event.

The current UFC lightweight champion is Benson Henderson, who will face Gilbert Melendez in April at UFC on FOX 7.
