A new co-viewing app for Bellator events...
Spike TV announced Thursday, February 28 in an official press the launch of a new Bellator MMA mobile app for iPad and iPhone for co-viewing of Bellator MMA programming. Spike TV partnered with Omnigon Communications to create the app.
The app is available on the App Store for free on iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch at AppStore.com/BellatorMMA. The new app works in concert with the live Spike TV broadcast of the event and provides real-time fight data that is only available through the app. Fans can score rounds with the help of real-time statistics powered by CompuStrike.
Regarding the app release, Jon Slusser, Senior Vice President, Sports and Multiplatform Events, Spike TV stated: "The Bellator app is truly the first of its kind. It allows our passionate fans to experience the fight as a virtual fourth judge – creating a level of immersion that's unparalleled in any sport. We see this second-screen as a game-changer. The results from the app will actually become part of the on-air discussion. There's nothing like that in all of sports television."
Bellator Chairman & CEO Bjorn Rebney said, "At Bellator, we continually look for new ways to connect with our fans in a more meaningful way. This innovative app will resonate with our first-adopter audience, who will feel closer to the action than ever before."
Bellator broadcasters Jimmy Smith and Sean Wheelock will announce the results of the polling on the app live on TV to see how fan's opinion compares to their own as well as the official cageside judges.
The app will also feature historical statistics for every fighter, pre-fight fan picks, and "Favorite Fight of the Night" polling, which will be sharable via social networks. The app will also give fans the ability to watch exclusive videos and read more into the biographies of their favorite fighters.
