He'll be around for a little while longer...
MMA Junkie reports that bantamweight Francisco Rivera (9-2 MMA, 2-1 UFC) has signed a new four-fight deal with the UFC.
He returned to the UFC in 2012 after two first-round knockout wins for Tachi Palace Fights. He earned a unanimous decision win over Alex Soto at UFC on FUEL TV 3 in May. His first-round knockout of Roland Delorme at UFC 149 in July was overturned when Rivera tested positive for a banned substance. He then came back at UFC 156 in February to get a second-round TKO win over Edwin Figueroa.
He started his MMA career at 5-0 before he went to the WEC, then lost to Erik Koch at WEC 52. After that, the promotion merged with the UFC and he dropped to bantamweight (from featherweight) to take on Reuben Duran at the TUF 13 Finale, which he lost by third-round submission. He was released by the UFC but came back after Azamat Gashimov was forced off with an injury.
