Lavar Johnson Flagged For Elevated Testosterone Levels

Bad news...
MMA Junkie reports that a post-fight drug test for UFC heavyweight Lavar Johnson (17-7 MMA, 2-2 UFC), who lost by unanimous decision to Brendan Schaub (9-3 MMA, 5-3 UFC) at UFC 157, was flagged for elevated levels of testosterone.
CSAC Executive Officer Andy Foster said that an extra carbon isotope ratio test "confirmed the testosterone was consistent with the administration of a steroid." The other tests for the other fighters came back clean.
Foster said that the failure was not because of the elevated testosterone-to-epitestosterone (T/E) level, but he couldn't reveal any more details on his failure at this time. The tests were for drugs of abuse and performance-enhancers.
The event took place on February 23 from the Honda Center in Anaheim, California. Johnson fought Schaub on the FX portion of the preliminary card. He tried to keep the fight standing but was taken down each time in three rounds. He eventually asked Schaub to stand with him and was turned down. This was the second straight loss for Johnson after starting his UFC career with KO wins over Joey Beltran and Pat Barry.
The UFC recently took a hard stance on failed tests when welterweight Matt Riddle was released after his second marijuana failure. This could mean bad things for Johnson.
