Ediane Gomes Will Now Fight Tamikka Brents At Invicta FC 6
Posted by Joseph Lee on 07.11.2013

MMA Junkie reports that three days before Invicta FC 6, Charmaine Tweet (4-3) has been forced out of her fight with Ediane Gomes (10-2) due to visa issues. Tamikka Brents (2-0) will take her place. The event takes place on Saturday at the Ameristar Casino Hotel in Kansas City, Missouri. It airs on PPV in North America. International viewers can watch through an online pay-per-view stream, each for $14.95.

This is now Gomes' third opponent. She was set to fight Julia Budd (5-2), but Budd suffered a neck injury and was replaced by Tweet two weeks ago.

Brents made her Invicta debut in January with a unanimous decision win over Amanda Bell at Invicta FC 4. She made her pro debut in November with a first round TKO win in a regional promotion near St. Louis. Over her 27-month amateur career, she 8-0-2 with six first-round stoppages.

Gomes is coming back from an injury that stopped a potential fight with Cristiane Santos at Invicta FC 5. She was originally set to meet Budd on that card before being asked to fight Santos. She is on a four-fight win streak, including wins over Hiroko Yamanaka in January and a submission of Katalina Malungahu in October. Her last loss was to Ronda Rousey over two years ago.

This would have been Tweet's Invicta debut as she is on a three fight win streak. She beat Amanda Bell by submission in June at a regional Canadian event. In March, she beat Sy Jewett with a rear-naked choke. In November she made Puja Kadian submit with a guillotine choke at Super Fight League 10 in India. All three wins were in the first round.

Here's the current card:
