How did UFC's debut on Fox Sports 1 do?
UFC Fight Night 26: Shogun vs. Sonnen marked UFC's debut on the new sports channel Fox Sports 1. Fox Sports 1 announced via an official press release that the show drew an average audience of 1.71 million viewers in prime time (8PM to 11PM ET).
The show had an average household rating of 1.33. Fox Sports 1 is said to have out-rated all four major broadcast networks among the Adults 18-49, Adults 18-34, Men 18-49, and Men 18-34 demographics based on impressions within each demo
Bill Wanger, Executive Vice President, Programming and Research, FOX Sports, said on the ratings news: "We must congratulate the UFC for putting together a terrific event for the launch of FOX Sports 1 that fans were obviously very excited to watch. The prelims and main events were action-packed, and the production quality and new camera angles gave fans a totally new perspective - hats off to the UFC and its incredibly loyal fan base for making our first night such a complete success."
The show also surpassed the average viewership of the eight UFC on FX events, which averaged 1.29 million viewers all together (38% increase over the FX event average). The average household rating of the event also surpassed the UFC on FX cards by 49% (1.33 vs. 0.93). The average viewershop and rating was also higher than seven individual UFC on FX events save for UFC on FX 7: Bisping vs. Belfort which drew 1.9 million viewers.
