Leaving FOX Sports 2...
MMA Junkie reports that UFC Tonight will be moving from FOX Sports 2 to FOX Sports 1 on September 11. The show already moved from FUEL TV to FOX Sports 2 when UFC moved its programming from FX and FUEL TV earlier this month. The announcement was made on UFC Tonight earlier this week.
The show is hosted by Chael Sonnen and Kenny Florian, along with Leann Tweeden. It will also move to Wednesdays (it previously aired on Tuesdays) for a one-hour show.
FOX Sports 1 launched last week with UFC Fight Night 26 taking up five hours of programming on launch day. Sonnen won in the main event by making Mauricio Rua submit. It is available in almost three times as many homes as FOX Sports 2. UFC tonight debuted in January 2012 on FUEL TV, shortly after the UFC's seven-year broadcast deal with FOX began.
The promotion will hold regular "Fight Night" events on Wednesdays on FOX Sports 1, including UFC Fight Night 27 this Wednesday from Indianapolis and UFC Fight Night 28 on September 4 in Brazil. On that same night, season 18 of The Ultimate Fighter begins on the network. It will be a part of the regular programming with UFC Tonight.
