MMA Junkie reports that a single-night four-man lightweight championship tournament has been set for Cage Warriors 60. The winner will get the title that Conor McGregor gave up when he went to the UFC. The four men are Stevie Ray (12-4, from Scotland), Ivan Buchinger (23-4, from Slovakia), Mick Sinclair (12-3, from the UK) and Jason Ball (20-12, from the UK). The pairings haven't been announced.
The event takes place on October 5 at The Forum in London. It streams live on MMA Junkie after preliminary fights on Faceboo. Both fights will have two five-minute rounds, with an additional overtime round if it is tied. Five five-minute rounds are set for the final. Fighters could compete for up to eight rounds in the same night.
Ray is fighting for Cage Warriors for the first time since March 2012. He was on a three-fight winning streak until he lost by decision to Curt Warburton earlier this year. He's the youngest fighter in the tournament at 23 years old. Buchinger made Jamal Magomedow submit at Cage Warriors 58, his fifth win in six fights. His only defeat was to the former champion McGregor in late 2012. This is his second chance at the belt.
Sinclair is 31, the oldest in the tournament. He has eight wins in his past nine fights and ten stoppages in twelve wins. He recently knocked out Tom Maguire at OMMAC 12. Ball has back-to-back wins over Craig Allen and Jason Cooledge, but recently lost to Buchinger at Cage Warriors 54. He has also lost to Sinclair.
