He's reached another level...
In an interview with MMA Junkie, Sean Spencer (9-2 MMA, 0-1 UFC) said that he is going to drop his "Black Magic" nickname. He will fight Yuri Villefort (6-2 MMA, 0-1 UFC) in the first match at UFC Fight Night 28 tomorrow, which will be streamed on Facebook.
On why he wants to drop the nickname: "I just feel like, in my life right now, I've reached another level. I just feel like a new person, especially over the last six to eight months of my life. I've grown up a lot, and I just don't feel a connection to that nickname anymore. I'm just going by my name."
On changing his training: "I've upped the intensity a lot. I always train hard, but my coaches have been pushing me to the limit, and I know that I've reached another level of my game."
On moving on with his career: "I just want to release that part of my life. I feel like I've reached a new level, and it's time to move on. It's time for bigger and better things. If a new nickname comes to me, I'll go with that if I like it. But as far as 'Black Magic' goes, I'm no longer connected to that name."
