MMA Junkie reports that UFC Fight Night 26 had an attendance of 14,181 fans for a live gate of $1,533,940. The Massachusetts State Athletic Commission, which oversaw the August 17 event at the TD Garden in Boston, provided the totals.
The event sold 10,795 seats. 3,386 more "comp" seats were given out. There was an average of $108.17 per ticket. UFC officially originally estimated an attendance of 12,539 and a live gate of $1.53 million.
The event featured a light heavyweight main event between Mauricio Rua and Chael Sonnen. It was the first on FOX Sports 1, which debuted on the same day. Sonnen submitted Rua in the first round. Meanwhile, Travis Browne KO'd Alistair Overeem with a head kick in the first round.
This was the second show in Boston after UFC 118 in 2010. That PPV was headlined by a lightweight title match rematch between Frankie Edgar and BJ Penn. It drew 14,168 fans for a $2.8 million live gate. That same weekend, UFC held their first Fan Expo on the East Coast.
