Penn and Edgar will fight in April…
The UFC announced that BJ Penn and Frankie Edgar will be the coaches on season 19 of The Ultimate Fighter. Also BJ Penn will be returning to fight at featherweight and will face off against Edgar in April. The announcement was made this week on UFC Tonight.
Speaking on the announcement, UFC President Dana White said, "BJ Penn is moving down to 145 lbs. to coach The Ultimate Fighter against Frankie Edgar. BJ really hates the fact that he lost to Frankie Edgar. It's something that's been burning deep inside of him for three years now. So he's moving down to 145 lbs. to not only avenge those defeats, but to try and become the first fighter in UFC history to win titles in three different weight classes."
Edgar and Penn will coach middleweight and light heavyweight fighters next season. The show begins filming in mid-October in Las Vegas. The new season will premiere in January on Fox Sports 1.
