Augmentation could be off the table...
Louisiana is considering a ban on breast implants and other such enhancements. Louisiana State Boxing & Wrestling Commission Vice Chair Buddy Embanato spoke with MMAjunkie and said that there are health concerns about implants within combat sports.
"It concerns us … that they would burst," Embanato said. "We just want to study it."
The comments came after the commission used emergency measures to curtail implants following a woman withdrawing from a fight because she needed surgery to repair her implants.
Embanato added, "We've not banned it. We're doing a small measure right now to do research. I had the president of the [Association of Boxing Commissions] send an email to every member of the ABC. I've received about 10 (responses) today that said they had been looking at it, and that they appreciate me bringing the subject up, and they want to bring it up at the ABC convention next year.. We're airing on the side of conservatism," he said. "Our job is to make sure the person in that ring doesn't get killed. If asking a female boxer to get a letter from her doctor during her annual physical – for that doctor to state that it's OK with her to box with these implants – is a big issue, then I have a big issue with somebody that says it's a big issue."
