Will Diaz come out of retirement for it?
MMA Junkie reports that Dana White likes the idea of a fight between Nick Diaz (26-9 MMA, 7-6 UFC) and middleweight Michael Bisping (24-5 MMA, 14-5 UFC). Diaz recently said he would come out of the retirement for the right fight and Bisping offered himself as the opponent.
White tweeted: "I love that fight."
The talk started after Diaz's teammate, Gilbert Melendez, said that Diaz would end his retirement if the right offer came along in either MMA, boxing or kickboxing. Bisping, who is out with an eye injury, tweeted: "Well if Diaz wants a fight at 185 I would happily welcome him to the division.
Diaz has spent most of his career at welterweight. He retired after he lost to welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre in March. The fight was thirteen months after a decision loss to Carlos Condit for the interim belt in 2012. After that fight, he was suspended by the Nevada State Athletic Commission for a year due to his second failed drug test. Not many people took his retirement seriously. However, while there were rumors of a new deal and White offered him a fight with middleweight Lyoto Machida, Diaz has not said if he's considering a return.
