MMA Junkie reports that Alexis Villa (13-3) will fight Josh "The Finisher" Rettinghouse (9-2) in a bantamweight fight at World Series of Fighting 6. An official announcement will be made shortly. It will take place on the seven-fight preliminary card, which streams on MMA Junkie and happens before the four-fight main card on NBC Sports Network.
The card features the first championship fight in WSOF history as Josh Burkman and Steve Carl battle for the welterweight title. It takes place October 26 at the BankUnited Center in Coral Gables, Florida.
Villa is a two-time world champion wrestler and a 1996 Olympic bronze medalist. He lost in the finals of Bellator's season five bantamweight tournament but is currently on a two-fight win streak in Florida's Championship Fighting Alliance. Rettinghouse is a jiu-jitsu fighter who has nine wins, six by submission and two by KO. This is his first fight outside of the Pacific Northwest regional circuit.
