There are no rules about regulating a long, unkempt beard in TexasÖ
UFC heavyweight fighter Daniel Cormier spoke with reporters this week about the issue pertaining to Roy Nelson's beard for their upcoming fight at UFC 166. Cormier previously discussed having an issue with Nelson's beard and wanted to complain to the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation to see if something could be done about it.
Cormier on the situation with Nelson's beard: "There's nothing we can do, boys. It's official."
Cormier on the rules: "There is no law or rule against his beard, so he can wear it as long as he wants it...He can go out there looking like a grizzly bear if he wants."
Cormier on what he wanted done with the beard: "I was going to make him (trim or braid it) if they let me, but they didn't. Initially it was a joke. I kind of thought to myself, a lot of fans really like Roy. Roy's a good guy to like. He's cool. He has the beard. He's a little heavier. People like Roy. So they got offended by it."
