That's the plan...
MMA Junkie reports that Robert Whiteford (10-1 MMA, 0-0 UFC) is expected to replace the injured Mike Wilkinson (8-1 MMA, 1-1 UFC) against Jimy Hettes (10-1 MMA, 2-1 UFC) at UFC Fight Night 30 this week. Whiteford has verbally agreed to the contest. The event takes place Saturday at the Phones 4U Arena in Manchester, England. The main card airs on FOX Sports 2 after preliminary fights on MMA Junkie and Facebook. Hettes vs Whiteford will be a part of the preliminary card.
Whiteford lost his pro MMA debut in 2009 but has been undefeated since then. He trans at Scotland's Dinky Ninjas Fight Team and America Top Team. He only had one fight this year, a decision win against Paul Reed at a regional Scotland show.
Hettes had his first lost in September 2012 to Marcus Brimage at UFC 152 in Toronto by unanimous decision. Before that he was undefeated in ten fights and won his first two UFC fights, a submission over Alex Caceres and a unanimous decision over Nam Phan in 2011. He was scheduled to fight Steven Siler at UFC 159 in April in New Jersey, but was injured.
Wilkinson was a lightweight on the UK vs Australia season of The Ultimate Fighter. His last fight was a June loss against Rony Jason at UFC on FUEL TV 10 in Brazil. He won his debut at UFC on FX 6 in Australia last December.
