He's done it before...
In an interview with MMA Junkie, Mark Munoz (13-3 MMA, 8-3 UFC) said he has no problem fighting friends and has done it before. He will fight Lyoto Machida (19-4 MMA, 11-4 UFC) at UFC Fight Night 30 this Saturday. Machida recently replaced Michael Bisping (24-5 MMA, 14-5 UFC). The fight airs on FOX Sports 2 from the Phones 4u Arena in Manchester, England.
On being offered a fight with Machida two days after training with him: "Yeah, there was hesitation, to be honest with you. There was hesitation in taking it. It was crazy, but at the same time, it's competition, and it's what we signed up for. It was very abrupt. From being a training partner to a friend to fighting each other, I'm all about it, but at least give me a little time. But for me, it's a fight, and I'm going to go out there and do it."
On fighting his friends: "I've fought friends before, and I've done well in those fights. You've got to be able to put the friendship aside for about 25 minutes and then pick it back up when it's done."
On if the winner could get a middleweight title fight: "I think with Machida going down to middleweight, being a former champion and fighting me, he definitely has a way to fight for a title. But that's only if he gets by me. So I truly believe we both have a shot at a title after this fight."
