Velasquez’s management says his jaw is fine…
According to a statement made today by spokesperson Heidi Seibert of Zinkin Entertainment, the management company for UFC heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez, Velasquez's camp doesn't understand the recent announcement by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation's Combative Sports division that Velasquez has been suspended for a suspected broken jaw after UFC 166.
Seibert stated, "The thing is totally fine, and it was totally fine. He hasn't seen a doctor or anything." She added that Velasquez felt there was no need to see a doctor. Seibert added, "He's at the park with his family. He's been eating whatever he wants. He's fine."
Velasquez reportedly received a few stitches on his nose after the fight. He then went to the post-fight press conference and attended his after-party. A jaw injury was never discussed with him. According to Seibert, "He was at the after-party by 1:30 in the morning, feeling fine...So we have no idea where it came from."
The Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation has not yet commented on the news or statement from Velasquez's camp. The commission paperwork reportedly didn't specify if a physician can clear Velasquez from the suspension.
