A dream middleweight matchup...
UFC officials have announced that former UFC light heavyweight champion Lyoto Machida will face former Strikeforce light heavyweight champion and DREAM middleweight champion Gegard Mousasi for the first UFC event in Brazil in 2014.
The fight will be a five-round main event (to be contested at middleweight) for UFC's event set for February 8 in Jaragua do Sol, Brazil. The event will be broadcast on Fox Sports 2.
Mousasi asked for the matchup after Machida's first round knockout over Mark Munoz in the main event at UFC Fight Night 30. He declared that he wanted to move back down to middleweight and face Machida. Mousasi previously fought at middleweight for the DREAM promotion, winning their 2008 Middleweight Grand Prix and defeating Ronaldo "Jacare" Souza to win their middleweight title.
