He thinks Alvarez is a great competitor...
Bellator lightweight champion Michael Chandler recently spoke about his upcoming title fight rematch with Eddie Alvarez. The bout goes down tonight at Bellator 106 and will be broadcast on Spike TV. Below are some highlights.
Chandler on if he has any advantage over Alvarez due to Alvarez's disputes outside the cage for the last year: "It's all speculation, but I'd like to think that I could. Fighting is so crazy, you guys and the fans only see what happens in those minutes that we're in the cage, but it's eight to 10 weeks of training camp that we have to go through. God willing, everybody in our family is healthy, and we don't have to go through crazy stuff outside of the fighting, like court battles and all the stuff he may have been going through. It's definitely a test for him. Is he going to be able to come back and be the same Eddie? I'm hoping he is, because that's the best thing for my career and everybody watching that night. We'll see."
Chandler's thoughts on Alvarez: "He's a great competitor. He knows how to prepare, he knows how to train, he's been in this sport a decade now, so he's coming for that belt. He wants it bad. You guys have heard it in the promos. I'm just believing that I want it more, and it's going to take me getting completely knocked out or a limb breaking and the ref stopping the fight for the fight to be stopped on my part."
