Rousey was the highest...
MMA Junkie reports that Yahoo's Year in Review section has revealed that three MMA fighters have made the top 10 most-searched athletes on Yahoo in 2013.
At #7 is Bellator's Tito Ortiz, who hasn't fought in 17 months and hasn't won since July 2011. He was between Lamar Odom (#6) and Serena Williams (#8). Ortiz was set to fight Quinton "Rampage" Jackson at Bellator's first ever PPV event but he was removed from the card with a fractured neck. The event was then moved to Spike TV and Jackson was booked on a different card. Ortiz is now looking to debut in 2014. He was the only male MMA fighter on the list, being such popular UFC fighters as Georges St-Pierre, Jon Jones, Chris Weidman and Cain Velasquez.
The other two fighters were women. The highest-ranked was Ronda Rousey at #5, who will headline UFC 168 against Meisha Tate( her rival coach on The Ultimate Fighter 18). Dana White has said the event, which features a rematch between Weidman and Anderson Silva, could be the biggest event in UFC history.
Gina Carano was the last of the three, even though she hasn't competed since losing in 2009 to Cris "Cyborg" Santos.
