Claudia Gadelha Out Of Invicta FC 7 Due To Illness

MMA Junkie reports that Claudia Gadelha (11-0) has been pulled from her strawweight title fight with Carla Esparza (9-2) at Invicta FC 7, which was set to happen tonight as the main event. It was one of three scheduled title fights on the show. The main event will now by flyweight champion Barb Honchak defending against Leslie Smith. The co-main event will be the inaugural bantamweight title fight between Lauren Murphy and Miriam Nakamoto. The event happens tonight at the Ameristar Casino Hotel in Kansas City, Missouri. There are eight fights that will air on online PPV or through select cable and satellite pay-per-view providers.
Invicta FC President Shannon Knapp said: "Claudia ran a high fever late Friday evening and went to the hospital, where she was diagnosed with a bacterial infection in her intestines. We know Claudia wanted this title opportunity more than anything, and all of us at Invicta wish her a speedy recovery. Tonight's pay-per-view will go on as planned with two world championship fights and a stacked undercard."
Gadelha's last fight was her Invicta debut, a third-round TKO over Ayaka Hamasaki at Invicta FC 6. She has eight stoppages in her eleven wins. Her title shot is on hold.
