"It was very important I finished him the second time."
Following UFC on Fox 9, Abel Trujillo spoke with reporters in a media scrum on his preliminary card win over Roger Bowling by knockout in the second round. Their first fight at UFC Fight Night 27 ended in a no-contest after he was hit by taking an apparent illegal knee. Trujillo utilized a more well-placed knee to the body when Bowling was down in this fight. Below are some highlights.
Trujillo on getting the finish this time: "It was very important I finished him the second time. Also, I felt like (UFC President) Dana White had my back after the first fight, and he said I won, so it was very important I did the same thing in the second fight."
Trujillo on using knees in his offense: "I knee a lot. I knee when guys come up, they're susceptible to the sternum area, so I threw it. I knew I wasn't going to hit him in the face."
Trujillo on what's next: "I'm not that type of fighter to request somebody. I just want to make a statement, and whoever the UFC or Dana White wants me to have next, I'll accept it."
