Fabricio Camoes Believes the Timing is Perfect for His UFC 168 Bout Against Jim Miller
Posted by Jeffrey Harris on 12.26.2013

UFC lightweight fighter Fabricio Camoes recently spoke about his upcoming main card bout against top 10 UFC lightweight Jim Miller set for the main card at UFC 168. Below are some highlights.

Camoes on recovering from a recent knee injury and surgery: "I did physical therapy for about four months. But it was also good for me because it allowed me to evaluate my career and address my weak points. People imagine that we sit at home watching TV when we're injured, but in reality we either rehab or train. And I think my leg now is stronger than before."

Camoes on the timing of his fight with Miller: "I think the timing of this fight is perfect. I am confident the UFC knows that putting me against Miller will really entertain the fans. I feel like my experience will show. I've been fighting for about 20 years. My first vale-tudo bout was in 1997. I've always faced the best in my (division), and now it's time to prove that I belong in the top 10 of my weight class."

Camoes' thoughts on Miller: "He's very good, but I think that his strong point is also my strong point. When he faces a striker, he usually resorts to his jiu-jitsu and wrestling, which are great. But when he faces someone as skilled on the ground, things don't turn out as well. Look at Miller's fights against Healy and (Nate) Diaz. Against Gray Maynard, he wasn't able to score takedowns. And let's not forget the time he faced Ben Henderson, who was able to neutralize his game and control from the top. I am very well aware of his abilities as an athlete, but I've been working very hard in preparation for this fight."

Camoes on the opportunity he's getting to fight Miller on the main card at UFC 168: "He's a top-ranked lightweight with good reason. Jim Miller is an excellent athlete. And this opportunity that UFC is giving me, to be part of the main card at UFC 168, it's a great honor. The fact that they're putting me against such a high-level opponent can only mean they believe in my potential, so I aim to put on a great fight."
