David Galera Reveals His Reaction To Getting Called By The UFC
Posted by Joseph Lee on 01.02.2014

In an interview with MMA Junkie, David Galera (5-0 MMA, 0-0 UFC) revealed that he initially had no idea why the UFC called him to be a part of the preliminary card for UFC Fight Night 34. The event takes place in Singapore's Marina Bay Sands Expo and Convention Centre. It will stream on UFC Fight Pass, the promotions new digital network. He will fight bantamweight Royston Wee (2-0 MMA, 0-0 UFC).

On his thoughts about getting the call: "I was thinking a lot that night. I was like, ‘Why me?' "I have a lot of teammates that are 10 times better than me, but I figured I must be here for a reason. The next day, I went straight to the gym, geared up, and focused on training. I just trained, trained, trained."

On Wee being a hometown favorite: "It adds a little pressure, but we've been working on this for a long time, so you get used to it. I love being the underdog. It's a lot easier for me to relax. It doesn't really matter if they boo me. It's just a sport."

On proving UFC made the right decision: "To tell the truth, it was a surprise for me. I never thought it could come to this position. This is big time. But right now, this is my career. I have to take one step at a time and not think about anything else."
