They're holding a meeting on Friday...
MMA Junkie reports that the Nevada State Athletic Commission will meet on Friday to discuss possible replacements for executive director Keith Kizer. Kizer started working with the NSAC in 2006. He stepped down from his post last week and will return to the state attorney general's office. The meeting takes place at the Grant Sawyer State Office Building (suite 3200, third floor) and begins at 2:30 PM PT local time. It will be open to the public.
There are two items on the agenda: "discussion concerning recruitment and appointment of executive director," and "appoint subcommittee to review applications, perform interviews and make recommendations to the full commission for the position of executive director."
The NSAC executive director position is one of the highest-profile regulatory roles in the world of combat sports. The UFC holds more events in Las Vegas than any other location and several boxing events are held in the city as well.
Kizer said it was "time to go back to being an attorney." He previously worked as the legal counsel to the NSAC before he replaced Marc Ratner in 2006 as executive director. Ratner resigned to join the UFC as the vice president of regulatory affairs. Before his work with the attorney general, Kizer was a Las Vegas lawyer with a speciality in employment law.
