Cole Miller Challenges Cowboy Cerrone to Drop to 145
Posted by Larry Csonka on 01.16.2014

- Cole Miller spoke after last night's victory at UFC Fight Night 35 and more. Here are the highlights…

On Suffering a Broken Hand: "It's broken for sure. I'm going to get it checked out tomorrow and find out if I need to get surgery."

On His Career Going in The Right Direction: "I think last year I had a good year – 2-1 on paper, but I think everyone here knows I had a 3-0 year with the decision against Gamburyan being the one loss," he said. "It just started clicking with mixing it. I think I've shown in the past that I can stand with all the strikers, and I grapple all the grapplers. I'm grappling with guys like Jorge Gurgel (in 2008) and striking with guys like Ross Pearson (in 2010). I think the one thing I lacked was the ability to mix all my skills together. But training at American Top Team, working on my strength and conditioning and the overall drop to featherweight – getting comfortable with the weight cut – it's been able to make me bring my skill set together."

On Wanting to Fight Donald Cerrone: "This is not something new," Miller said. "This rivalry started in 2007 and we had a couple of out-of-the-cage altercations over the past few years. When he first came into the UFC, he called me out on TV. I just wanted to return the favor. He's been talking about coming down to 145 pounds and fighting at featherweight. Talking about it is one thing. If he just needed some motivation to come down, I gave it to him."
