“I’m definitely different than seven years ago.”
UFC heavyweight fighter Gabriel Gonzaga recently spoke about his upcoming UFC on Fox 10 bout against Stipe Miocic. The fight card is set for Saturday, January 25 in Chicago, Illinois. The main card will be broadcast live on the Fox network. Below are some highlights:
Gonzaga's thoughts on the odds of the fight: "Everyone is pretty much the same and should be 50-50. I don't know how they measure that, but before, I was 7-to-1 (underdog) with (Mirko) ‘Cro Cop' (Filipovic)."
Gonzaga on the physical challenge of Miocic: "Everybody knows he's a fast guy and has fast hands and is tall. That's his big gift. I train to avoid that and put my best game on."
Gonzaga on how he's changes since the time he fought for the UFC heavyweight title: "Seven years more experience, more training and more skills. Everything is accumulated now for a new fighter, so I'm definitely different than seven years ago."
Gonzaga on what he needs to do to get another shot at the belt: "I'm coming with a good run. If I win, it's going to be good for a title shot. I just need to keep winning and keep going. I'm really motivated."
