He'll fight him at UFC Fight Night 37...
In an interview with MMA Junkie, Michael Johnson (12-8 MMA, 6-4 UFC) said that his UFC Fight Night 37 opponent Melvin Guillard (31-12-2 MMA, 12-8 UFC) is a trickier opponent than Khabib Nurmagomedov.
On the differences between Guillard and Khabib: "Khabib doesn't have knockout power, and Melvin does. I would think (Melvin) wants it a little more. He's trying to get back to where he was not too long ago, and now he's got to go through me to get to that."
On Guillard's trash talk: "I let Melvin run his mouth. He's crazy; something's wrong with him. He sees things that really don't happen. But that's fine. He can say he doesn't like me. We never really got along; we weren't the best of friends. But on the team, I was always there to help him any time he wanted. He can say he doesn't like me, but when he was on the team, I did nothing but support him and try to help him succeed. But now, he's off the team, and we've got to fight, so he can run his mouth if he wants to. But once the cage door closes, there's no more talking after that."
On the importance of his fight: "Even though I didn't get the two fights I wanted, this is still a tough fight. Melvin is still dangerous; he's still one of the best guys in the division. I knew sooner or later we'd have to fight, so we might as well get it out of the way now."
