Chad Mendes hopes to fight for the title again...
- Chad Mendes recently spoke about earning a title shot and more. Here are the highlights…
On The Cut He Recently Suffered in Training: "It's not awful, but it's not good," Mendes said. "It's probably an inch long right above my left eye."
On a Possible Rematch With Aldo: "It would be great to get in there and get the redemption and beat [Aldo]," Mendes said. "But ultimately, I don't give a crap who has the belt. I just want to fight for the belt and win that damn thing."
On His Fight With Cub Swanson: "I do remember a lot of it," he said. "I remember at that time, I didn't really have any standup. I was basically all wrestling, and I just remember feeling a lot stronger than he was, a lot quicker, and a lot more powerful. I remember him hitting me with a lot of his punches, and it just felt like there wasn't much on it. I just felt like I could pretty much dictate the pace of the fight. I remember hitting him with an overhand left, and I rocked him back into the fence. I did have that killer instinct to go for that knockout, so I didn't know what to do."
On Earning a Title Shot: "I'm hoping if I get to fight for the title again, and I'm hoping it's in (Las) Vegas," Mendes said. "And if it is Cub, the last time I fought Cub, it was in Vegas. So maybe we can get it going again."
