Nick Newell Wants Title Fight With Champion Justin Gaethje
Posted by Larry Csonka on 02.10.2014

- Nick Newell recently spoke about wanting to fight Justin Gaethje for the WSOF Lightweight Title. Here are the highlights…

On Wanting to Challenge Justin Gaethje For The WSOF Lightweight Title: "I want that fight because I feel like I would be the underdog, and I love surprising people. It would be 11-0 vs. 11-0 with 10 first-round finishes, and he's got 10 finishes, too," Newell said. "He's been killing all the top guys over in WSOF, and I think it's a fight everyone wants to see."

On Getting The Title Shot: "I guess they want to build it up a little more, but it could be next," Newell said. ‘If (WSOF matchmaker) Ali (Abdelaziz) calls me up, I'll say, ‘Send me the contract.'"

On Being Happy With WSOF: "They're treating me well, and I'm able to make a living doing what I love, so I'm not going to complain or be a pain to them," he said. "I just want to fight the best fighters possible. As long as they give me someone good, and someone to build my stock, I'm happy."
