[VIDEO] Ray Longo Interviewed by UFC Central
Posted by Jeffrey Harris on 02.16.2014

SportsNet released the video for a 30-minute interview with Joe Ferraro and Ray Longo, coach of UFC middleweight champion Chris Weidman, from UFC Central in Canada. Longo discussed many subjects, including Matt Serra upsetting Geoges St-Pierre to win the UFC welterweight title in one of the biggest upsets ever at UFC 69. Below are some highlights and the video to the interview.

Longo on Matt Serra's legendary upset against Georges St-Pierre at UFC 69: "It wasn't just like a title shot. It was, ‘This is it.' We had the conversation: ‘This is my last chance.' And wow, did he take advantage of that. When he went into that ring against ‘GSP,' he said, ‘Dude, I'm airing this s–t out. I'm letting it go.' He believed in me and I believed in him, and on that night that was what you saw. That was the beauty of that night to me."

Longo on fighters not fighting like they train after their weight cut and bringing your A game: "I see guys functioning 15 pounds before the weight cut. For me, it becomes, ‘How do I get this guy to the fight the way I see him three weeks before the fight?' You never know. You have a bad weight cut, and all of a sudden you're looking at a different guy, and it's heartbreaking because you know what the guy can do. Everything has to be in place. … When you believe in your team and things are going good, it's really important on that night that you bring your ‘A' game."
