Daniel Straus Says That Bellator Has Tournaments For A Reason
Posted by Joseph Lee on 03.10.2014

In an interview with MMA Junkie, Bellator featherweight champion Daniel Straus (22-4 MMA, 8-1 BMMA) said that he has no problem fighting Pat Curran (19-5 MMA, 9-2 BMMA) for a third time but he thinks Bellator has tournaments for a reason. The two will fight at Bellator 112 on Friday. Straus beat Curran at Bellator 106 in November and Curran beat Straus at XFO 29 in 2009. After Curran's defeat at Bellator 106, he was given an immediate rematch. Bellator officials will give an immediate rematch, instead of making the former champion win another tournament, if they think it's appropriate.

Straus said: "I have no problem fighting Pat Curran again. If they feel like he deserves a rematch, then that's what he'll get, although there's a tournament format for a reason. I feel like if you're going to set up a tournament style and make rules for it, then that's why you need to do and stick with it."
