Robbie Lawler Said He Didnít Spar for a While Before He Returned to the UFC

Top UFC welterweight title contender Robbie Lawler recently spoke about his training for his upcoming title fight against Johny Hendricks for UFC 171 this weekend. Below are some highlights.

Lawler on a period where he didn't spar during his training: "I went through a patch where I did not spar for the longest time. I just watched other people spar and shadowboxed and learned from their mistakes."

Lawler on things clicking for him now: "Everything's kind of clicking at the right time. My skills are getting better, and I'm getting stronger and training with a great team. It's awesome to be a part of."

Lawler's thoughts on how sparring less for a while has helped benefitted him now, since he returned to the UFC: "I think it was a good thing. In that patch, I was knocking a lot of people out. I just think the further that I got away from that at the higher level, it was harder to be sharp, or as sharp as I could be. So sparring was something I needed to do when I came back to the UFC."
