Johny Hendricks Says Getting The Welterweight Title Isn't About Georges St-Pierre

It's about the belt...
In an interview with USA Today (Via MMA Junkie), Johny Hendricks (15-2 MMA, 10-2 UFC) said that getting another welterweight title shot was never about beating Georges St-Pierre, but getting the belt itself. He will get his chance when he fights Robbie Lawler (22-9 MMA, 7-3 UFC) at UFC 171 tomorrow.
On fighting Lawler: "I've got a very tough opponent in front of me. If I don't focus all on him, then sort of the same thing can happen. I have another great opportunity, and I don't want to waste it."
On wanting the belt: "It was never about Georges. It was always the belt. The belt means everything, so (with) a win on Saturday, my goal will be reached."
On the danger of fighting strikers: "You're one punch away from losing, but those are also the more fun fights for me. You don't know what's going to happen, other than that you're going to step into an octagon and hopefully you get your hand raised. I think that's what makes the fans excited now, is that they don't know what's going to happen. They don't know if we're going to knock each other out."
