Dan Henderson Says He'll Fight Lyoto Machida At UFC 173

MMA Junkie reports that Dan Henderson (30-11 MMA, 7-5 UFC) has volunteered to fight Lyoto Machida (21-4 MMA, 13-4 UFC) at UFC 173 after Chris Weidman (11-0 MMA, 7-0 UFC) suffered a minor knee injury which will require surgery. Machida was a replacement for Vitor Belfort. Henderson defeated light heavyweight Mauricio "Shogun" Rua at UFC Fight Night 38 with a third round TKO. The title fight between Weidman and Machida was moved from UFC 173 (May 24) to UFC 175 (July 5). Both events are in Las Vegas.

Henderson wrote:




He previously lost to Machida by split decision at UFC 157 in February 2013. Judges and media were split with the scores, which was advertised as a possible title eliminator. Machida ended up fighting Phil Davis instead of champion Jon Jones. After the loss, he dropped to middleweight and is 2-0. Machida isn't likely to give up a title shot to fight Henderson again.
