[VIDEO] Jon Jones and Glover Teixeira Randomly Drug Tested Ahead of UFC 172
Posted by Jeffrey Harris on 04.02.2014

UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones revealed in an interview with Ariel Helwani on UFC Tonight this week that he was randomly drug tested ahead of his upcoming title fight with Glover Teixeira. You can check out a video of Jones segment in the player below.

According to Jones, the Maryland athletic commission is conducting the drug test. He stated: "The Maryland Commission sent a lab to drug test me and I'm glad they did. It was urine and blood. They had a test for HGH, I think it was HGH, then they had a urine test that detects all other type of stuff."

Jones added on the random drug testing: "It's great to know the athletes who are competing are competing clean. I've never taken any performance enhancing drug. I've probably fought people in the past who have. I want to see our sport be a clean sport. I have no right to accuse (Glover) of anything. The only edge you should have is your work ethic."

In addition, MMAjunkie reports that Teixeira also submitted a sample for the same battery of tests, per his fight camp.

The fight card is set for April 26 at the Baltimore Arena in Baltimore, Maryland.
