Her management team clarifies the details…
MMAjunkie that an injury to Alexis Dufresne for her originally scheduled fight with Amanda Nunes for UFC Fox 11 left Nunes without an opponent. As a result, the UFC shifted Nunes to fight Sarah Kaufman at The Ultimate Fighter Nations Finale instead, as previously reported.
Kaufman's originally scheduled opponent on the fight card, Shayna Baszler, also had to bow out due to injury. And with Nunes without an opponent for the fight card set for three days later, the UFC opted to move Nunes to face Kaufman three days earlier instead.
Dufresne's management team released a statement on her having a rib injury, which you can read below:
"To whom it may interest, Alexis Dufresne has suffered a rib injury training jiujitsu during her training camp for her fight with Amanda Nunes. She will no longer be able to fight on the UFC on FOX card April 19. She would like to thank all of her sponsors, coaches and everyone who helped her during training camp. She would like to send a special thank you to Sean Shelby and the UFC for giving her the opportunity to fight for the UFC. She has already started the process of recovering from this injury and fully expects to be ready to compete in the near future."
Dufresne's UFC debut has now been put on hold.
UFC on Fox 11 is set for April 19 at the Amway Center in Orlando, Florida. The main card will be broadcast live on Fox. The Ultimate Fighter Nations Finale will take place on April 16 at the Colisee Pepsi in Quebec City, Quebec. The main card will be shown on Fox Sports 1.
