Lou Lauria Joins UFC as Vice President: Governing Body Relationships and International Fight Week
Posted by Larry Csonka on 04.08.2014

- The UFC has announced, via press release, that Lou Lauria has joined the company as Vice President, Governing Body Relationships and International Fight Week. Lauria will oversee the company's relationships with national, continental, and international sports federations. He will also be in charge of the UFC's global expansion and influence during International Fight Week in Las Vegas. Lauria had the following to say about the deal…

"I have watched with great interest over the years the emergence of the UFC as an innovative property that has become a true industry leader. The opportunity to become engaged in the global development of this sport and bring the combat sports community together around what will become an iconic annual event in International Fight Week was what attracted me to the UFC.

Developing existing relationships and identifying potential partners is vital to the UFC as it continues to promote MMA and combat sports around the world. We have already seen the explosive growth of the UFC and with International Fight Week serving as the premier MMA event of the year we will continue to work with governing bodies around the world to help better serve MMA and expand the sport globally."

Lauria brings over 20 years of experience of fostering international partnerships and developing projects for various sports federations around the world. He was last working for Helios Partners, an international sports consulting agency, where he was for the Bid City and Organizing Committee Consulting business unit. Lauria had also worked with the International Olympic Committee as a Partnership Services Manager for their Television and Marketing Services division. He also worked in sport and venue roles for the Atlanta 1996, Sydney 2000 and Salt Lake 2002 Olympic and Paralympic Games Organizing Committees.
