His UFC Fight Night 39 opponent...
In an interview with MMA Junkie, Tatsuya Kawajiri (33-7-2 MMA, 1-0 UFC) mentioned that he's very simialr to his UFC Fight Night 39 opponent Clay Guida (30-14 MMA, 10-8 UFC). The two will fight at the du Arena in Abu Dhabi. The event streams live on UFC Fight Pass.
On his comments about not being talented: "I think I need to clarify that comment. The point is, I don't think I have the sense of making a very exciting, cool fight, like what Anderson (Silva) and [Georges St-Pierre] do, but I do have the ability to win a fight. My fights might not look so cool and clean, but I will just go for it. I am willing to do for a takedown 100 times, even if I get sprawled on 100 times."
On being similar to Guida: "Actually, it's true. I totally think we're familiar. We're the same type of fighter in that sense. It's going to be a war, for sure."
On his goal of fighting the world's best fighters: "During the PRIDE days, I was watching UFC, and every time I watched UFC fights, I always watched them from the point of view of, what would happen if I faced these guys? I always wanted the best in the world, so that was my goal in this sport. I thought, what do I have left to do? If I can't fight in Japan, what am I supposed to do? Then I came to the conclusion that the one answer is trying to get back to my dream, which is to become No. 1 in the world, so I decided to start thinking about the UFC."
