UFC Looking to Put Together Nick Diaz vs. Hector Lombard
Posted by Jeffrey Harris on 04.09.2014

UFC President Dana White revealed that the UFC is looking to book a welterweight fight between former title contender and Strikeforce welterweight champion Nick Diaz and former Bellator middleweight champion Hector Lombard. White said at a media luncheon in Los Angeles this week that Diaz was offered the fight and said he liked it.

White then said, "Then I never heard from Nick again."

During the UFC 171 weekend, Diaz was in attendance and told reporters that he's ready to come back, though he only appeared interested in a title fight. Currently, UFC welterweight Johny Hendricks is out with an injury. If the UFC was willing to grant him a title fight, he'd end up waiting quite a while. Diaz last fought in March 2013, losing a five round decision to then-champion, Georges St-Pierre.
