He’s scored the most wins at featherweight in the UFC…
Dustin Poirier recently discussed his recent three-fight winning streak and what's next after taking the record for most wins in the UFC featherweight division with eight wins. Below are some highlights.
Poirier on his best fights being ahead of him: "My better fights are ahead of me. This is just the tip of the iceberg. I got a lot of fights left in me and the better ones are coming."
Poirier on improving his striking technique: "I definitely have the basics down for sure. My boxing and kickboxing is always coming along, but everything in this game is a work in progress no matter how good you think you are. There's always something to be a work in progress."
Poirier on who he wants to fight next: "No name really pops out. I want fights that matter, fights that will get my name out there. I've never picked fights. The UFC calls me and tells me who I'm fighting and I get the contract and sign it. I'm excited to find out what's next."
Poirier on being ready and how anything could happen in this sport: "The truth is in this game, especially when you're towards the top of that list of guys, anything could happen. I could be in a contender fight in a month from now or I could be subbing in for somebody two months from now in one of the top fights. I just got to get back to the gym and start getting ready. Anything could happen – I could be fighting anybody, anytime."
