A scary situation for the fighter...
Mauricio "Shogun" Rua found himself in the middle of a frightening situation when he was robbed at gunpoint while visiting Rio de Janeiro on Friday. Portal Vale Tudo reports that Rua had just left dinner with Damien Maia when four armed men drove up next to him and forced his car to stop, then held him at gunpoint while stripping him of his shirt, shoes and money.
According to Rua's manager Eduardo Alonso, one of the robbers recognized Rua and warned him against trying anything before driving off in the car Rua was driving, which was borrowed from a friend. Rua wasn't injured but had to walk a mile on the expressway to the nearest police station.
It is as yet unclear whether authorities are investigating the situation. Street crime is increasingly comon in the city.
