Antonio McKee Doesn't Want To See Rampage Jackson Vs Emanuel Newton
Posted by Joseph Lee on 05.20.2014

In an interview with MMA Junkie, trainer Antonio McKee said he doesn't want to see Quinton Jackson vs Bellator light heavyweight champion Emanuel Newton. He is the trainer of both. Newton said he would take the fight but "Rampage" would prefer not to. Here are highlights:

On Newton saying he'd take the fight: "Emanuel is a young man who doesn't care who he fights. Here's where discipline, your coach, your manager, this is where fighters have to start learning how to play the game economically. ‘Rampage' [Jackson] is probably…besides Tito, one of the most powerful crowd-pleasers in Bellator. So my question is, why would you want to knock him out? Or, why would you want to knock your champion out?"

On the possible fight putting him in a bad situation: "There's love and harmony in our gym. The only way I can see it happening is if the money is right. If the money is right, maybe both of them give me some money to leave them both alone and just step out of it."

On alternate fights: "How many fans do you think want to see Emanuel Newton and Rampage, versus Emanuel Newton and Tito Ortiz?. No one wants to see Mo Lawal [and Newton] again. I think there should be a rematch, because Rampage really wants to knock Mo Lawal out, and I'd like to see Tito and Emanuel go at it. Give Tito a shot at that title, and if Tito wins, then the winner of Mo and Rampage gets to go up against Tito for the true championship. I think that's the better way to go for pay-per-views, I think it's the better way to go for money, and from a fan standpoint."
