Rich Franklin Prayed For a Power Outage Prior to First Fight With Anderson Silva
Posted by Larry Csonka on 05.21.2014

- Back in April at the TED Talks event, "TEDxUChicago 2014: Make No Little Plans," former UFC Middleweight Champion Rich Franklin gave a speech entitled "How to Be a Loser." During this speech, Franklin discussed how anyone can handle losses in a productive manner. Franklin spoke about his fighting career, and even shared a story about his feelings prior to his first fight with Anderson Silva…

"I was fighting in Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas. A sold-out crowd, and 20,000 people were there. Electricity in the air. I was sitting backstage as usual. I'm nervous. I actually prayed to God, ‘If you could please make the lights go out, that would be great.' That's a true story. That's not a joke. There's no punchline."
