Pat Curran Injured, Out of Bellator 121 Title Fight
Posted by Jeffrey Harris on 05.22.2014

Bellator MMA has announced that Bellator featherweight champion Pat Curran has suffered a severe right calf train during training, and he was forced to withdraw from his upcoming fight. He will now be unable to defend his title against Patricio "Pitbull" Freire for their originally scheduled bout at Bellator 121.

Curran said on the news: "I've been training incredibly hard for this fight by pushing myself to my absolute limits in training. Unfortunately during some conditioning drills, I suffered a bad calf strain that has halted my training for one of the biggest fights of my career. I have my sights set on getting back into the cage as soon as possible with July in mind, but I want to be 100% healthy heading into that cage to smash Pitbull."

Bellator will be announcing the updated Bellator 121 card soon. The event is set for June 6.
