But would settle for a rematch against Michael Chandler…
According to MMAjunkie.com, Bellator's interim lightweight champion recently spoke about who his next fight will be against. Here are the highlights…
On Fighting Alvarez or Chandler: "I would love to say Bellator is going to make the Brooks vs. Alvarez fight," Brooks said. "But who knows? The fans have wanted the Chandler (vs.) Alvarez fight, and it sounds like people still want that Chandler vs. Alvarez fight. To me, I personally don't care at this point. I'm just really excited about the progression I've made as a fighter. I would love to hear that Will Brooks and Eddie Alvarez are going to fight on a pay-per-view card, but if I didn't hear that, I wouldn't be too shocked. If [Alvarez] and Chandler end up fighting and I end up having to fight Chandler again, I'll be jacked up for that one, too."
On Considering His Future: "I was so caught up thinking, man, what could I do with a full training camp for a five-round fight?" he said. "I was able to go in there on a week's notice and really push one of the better lightweights to the limit and almost finish him. Those were the thoughts that were rolling through my head. I never got a chance to think about what Bellator would do next until the next day where I read that Bjorn was saying Alvarez, in his contract, would be able to skip over me. That was the time I started thinking, ‘Oh man. What's going to happen?'"
On preparing For Alvarez and Chandler: "In my mind, I was trying to think of a strategy to fight both of them," Brooks said. "I just fought Chandler, so that's one part of my equation done, and I'm ready to fight Alvarez. I'm sure down the road, if me and Eddie fight, I'll end up fighting Chandler again, so I'm trying to get to Alvarez."
