AXS TV Fights Getting Ready For 250th Card
Posted by Joseph Lee on 06.09.2014

MMA Junkie reports that with Lion Fight 16, AXS TV Fights will have its 250th fight card. The channel started in 2007 as HDNet Fights before it became AXS TV. AXS TV Fights regularly airs events on Friday nights, up to 40 shows a year. Before Lion Fight 16, Inside MMA will air an hour early at 8 PM ET. Hosts Kenny Rice and Bas Rutten (along with correspondent Ron Kruck) will showcase moments from past broadcasts. Promotions that have had live events on AXS TV Fights include Strikeforce, WEC, Affliction, DREAM, GLORY, IFL, ProElite, Legacy FC, RFA, MFC, and the Lion Fight muay Thai.

AXS TV Founder Mark Cuban said: "When I started AXS TV, both high-definition TV and MMA were in their infancy. I saw a huge opportunity for AXS TV to be a leader in what later became the fastest growing sport in America. Some 10 years and 250 fights later, this event on July 4 is a testament to the power of the sport and the unwavering support of its fans.

Fighters who have appeared include Benson Henderson, Urijah Faber, Muhammad "King Mo" Lawal and Feder Emelianenko.

AXS TV Fights CEO Andrew Simon added: "Thanks to our broadcast partnerships with some of the finest promotions in combat sports, AXS TV Fights has been able to accomplish this unprecedented achievement broadcasting 250 fights. For over a decade, we have scanned the globe to bring our viewers the best MMA, may Thai and kickboxing. I want to say thank you to all the promotions, fighters and fans that have contributed to our long-term success."

Lion Fight 16 happens on July 4 at The Pearl at The Palms in Las Vegas. It will be an official part of the UFC's International Fight Week events, which includes UFC 175 and the TUF 19 Finale at the Mandalay Bay Events Center. The main event of LF16 will be Kevin Ross vs Michael Thompson for the first ever super lightweight title, along with Tiffany Van Soest vs Sindy Huyer and Rugravee Sasiprapa vs Adrian Morilla. The announce team includes Michael Schiavello and Pat Miletich. Tickets are on sale starting at $25 on Ticketmaster or the venue box office.

Upcoming AXS TV Fights shows include Legacy FC 31 this Friday, Legacy FC 32 next week, Legacy FC 33 (July 18) and RFA 16 (July 25). It will air 36 events this year.
