He's in the main event...
Adriano Moraes spoke with MMAjunkie about his fight with Kosuke Suzuki in the main event of ONE FC 17. Check out the highlights:
On getting into jiu-jitsu as a teenager: "During my teenage years, I was heavily involved in street fights and gangs. I wanted to re-channel my youthful energy."
On Suzuki: "Suzuki enjoys ‘cooking the chicken' to get a decision win, as we say in Brazil. I think once he sees my improved striking, he'll try to take me down. But I'm ready for any facet of combat. It will be an excellent fight. I'm very motivated to be on my way to fighting for the belt in our weight class."
On his Shooto career: "I defeated Dileno Lopes, who is very well regarded, was undefeated, and expected to go into the UFC. I managed to knock him out in the third round, in Manaus, which is his hometown. I managed to win against Nova Uniao at Shooto Brazil. Without a doubt, it gave me great visibility, and I was offered my ONE FC contract."
On working with Rani Yahya: "I train with Rani Yahya every day. Rani is one of my MMA teachers. He shows me how to blend jiu-jitsu into MMA. Unfortunately he's injured at the moment. Despite being hurt, he still helps me a lot. I'm getting the best training available in Brasilia. And I'm really happy that ONE FC chose me for their main event."
