Kogan responds to the story...
UPDATE: Kogan has issued a statement to MMAjunkie in response to his use of a racial epithet in reference to Jose Aldo's complaints about fighter pay:
I was saying he needs to make up his mind. Either you b—h and stick to it or don't say anything at all. He said he wasn't happy about the pay before, then three days later took it back (and) said, ‘Well, I didn't mean it.' Now he's talking about it again.
So my point was not to make fun of (him), but just say, either you are unhappy and you stick to your guns or you are happy (and) then don't talk about it. The only way pay will ever change is if the top guys (and) the champions start to speak out, but they have to stick to their guns, not flip-flop.
In addition, the site spoke to UFC middleweight Derek Brunsonm, who said he doesn't think Kogan is racist but has changed managers because he has received calls from sponsors complaining about Kogan's behavior.
Brunson said, "Mike's crazy, man. He's just a different guy. I think it's funny coming from Mike, because that's just him. I would definitely say he's more of a rebel, like the Diaz brothers. He manages Nate, Roy Nelson, (Muhammed) ‘King Mo' (Lawal), so all his guys are really controversial, going to speak their mind, and like to get a media reaction. That's just my take on it."
When asked if Kogan used the language around him, he said with a laugh, "Sometimes. It didn't affect me. I don't have a problem with it. That's just his personality. He's not racist by any means. He actually uses n–ga as a slang, but I would prefer my manager not to say that. That's kind of why I went in a different direction. I had sponsors contacting me saying, ‘Look what your manager is saying.' So that was one of my reasons. But as a person, I like Mike."
ORIGINAL: MMA manager Mike Kogan has taken a shot as UFC featherweight champion Jose Aldo over Aldo's comments about wanting better pay, and used a racial epithet in the process. Kogan, who manages Nate Diaz among others, took to Twitter and Instagram to address Aldo's comments in an Inside MMA interview that he is "not entirely happy with the current pay policy" and called Aldo a "n***a."
This n***a needs to make up his mind. Or more like stick to his guns and stop flip flopping. http://t.co/2FagxH4vvI
Kogan was previously involved in an issue involving a slur back in 2009 when Diaz was suspended by the UFC for using a homophobic slur in reference to Josh Thomson. Kogan had defended Diaz by saying, "Guess what? The word f----t, at least in Northern California, and where Nate is from, means bitch. It means you're a little punk. It has nothing to do with homosexuals at all. So when Nate made the comment that he made, he didn't make it in reference to homosexuals or calling Caraway a homosexual. He just said it was a bitch move."
He has also used the racial slur in the past, referring to Quinton Jackson and Jon Jones as "house n***as" in a blog post because they are "for the white folk."
